Lakers Take Game 1

The game was close at the start. But, by the end of the third quarter, the lead had ballooned to 20 led by Kobe's third quarter 14 points in attack mode. But it was a collective effort on defense from the 2009 NBA Finals champs that frustrated the Boston Celtics. Boston's Big Four couldn't get their game going as Ray Allen was hounded by foul trouble going up against Kobe Bryant who was on attack mode. Without a range shooter to widen the spacing for the Boston Celtics, the bigs for the Los Angeles Lakers, especially Pau Gasol, clogged up the lane and the Celtics were limited to low percentage shots.

The Boston Celtics fought it out in the fourth quarter, but that 3rd quarter ending 20 point lead, Kobe's do-it-all game, the Lakers' collective defensive effort, and foul trouble on the Celtics were too much to lose 102-89. The Los Angeles Lakers take Game 1 of the 2010 NBA Finals.

Game 2 of the 2010 NBA Finals on Sunday, June 6. Watch it live here.
