We're Still The Defending NBA Champs... For Now

First Quarter:
It was a fast paced first quarter in Game 6 of the NBA Finals with the Celtics and Lakers running ang gunning, sizing each up other up, each looking for opportunies to take the advantage of the other.

The Boston Celtics are as deadly as ever, but the Lakers, with their backs against the wall, are in a roll being more cohesive in this game. With Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest both making a couple of triples, and Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum attacking the rim, the Los Angeles Lakers take a 28-18 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter:
Fisher was on the bench with 2 early fouls. Bynum and Bryant were also on the bench to take breathers. No problem because the bench players were superb in the second quarter of the NBA finals. It was a different LA Lakers team. They were aggressively blocking shots, grabbing rebounds, running, making extra plays, and more importantly, making shots stacking up the lead to as high as 22 while the Boston Celtics, aside from Paul Pierce, were firing blanks. Dominating second half by the LA Lakers with the Boston Celtics trailing by 20 at 51-31

Third Quarter:
The game slowed down a bit, but while the Staples Center crowd chanted  'MVP', Kobe Bryant led an LA Lakers offensive that matched any shot made by the Boston Celtics in preserving their 20 half-time lead. Meanwhile, Jack Nicholson smiled his famous Joker smile as the LA Lakers extended their lead by 25 in ending the third quarter 76-51.

Fourth Quarter:
LA Lakers lead went up as high as 27, but the Boston Celtics hustled to bring it down to 21 but that was as close as they could get. The 20-plus point cushion was too much to overcome and by the 4 minute mark, the Boston Celtics rested their starters and just concentrate on game 7 of the NBA finals. Kobe Bryant left the court to a standing ovation with a game-dominating 26 Points, 11 Rebounds and 3 Assists to lead a blow-out against the Celtics 89-67.

It's game 7 at the Staples Center on on Thursday, June 17, for the 5th time in the Celtics-Lakers storied rivalry for the NBA Finals title.
